About Nimchand Moitra Educational & Social Trust
The Nimchand Moitra Educational And Social Trust is a dedicated non-government and non-profit organization based in Tollygunge, Kolkata, officially established on July 22, 2025. Founded by Sri Vaskar Moitra, the trust was created to honor the enduring memory of his great-grandfather, Late Nim Chand Moitra, with a primary vision to carry out meaningful charitable work that uplifts society at large. Under the dedicated leadership of Managing Trustee Sri Vaskar Moitra, alongside esteemed trustees Digbijoy Nag and Sri Anirban Banerjee, the organization operates with a steadfast commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable community development. To ensure the highest standards of institutional trust and to foster robust organizational partnerships, we are formally recognized by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities under the registration number CSR00106308. Furthermore, we hold provisional registrations under Section 12A and Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, solidifying our legal standing as a recognized charitable entity and enabling our generous contributors to benefit from valuable tax deductions.
At our core, we believe in providing holistic support to the most vulnerable and marginalized demographics, ensuring our developmental initiatives reach those in need irrespective of their sex, caste, creed, or religion. Our comprehensive mission spans multiple critical areas of social welfare, primarily focusing on educational empowerment and accessible healthcare. We actively establish and grant financial aid to schools, colleges, and public libraries, while providing free education, scholarships, and stipends to poor, needy, and meritorious students to guarantee that financial hardship never obstructs a child's academic potential. Additionally, our healthcare and community outreach programs are designed to provide extensive medical relief through the establishment of dispensaries, hospitals, and mobile medical units, alongside building old age homes and providing direct assistance for the welfare of senior citizens. Beyond education and health, we are deeply committed to poverty alleviation and crisis response, actively distributing food, clothing, and shelter to destitute individuals, orphans, and widows, while delivering critical aid to communities devastated by natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, and famines.
